Shibori is a Japanese traditional handicraft which has been processed mainly for kimono. Artisans used to start practicing this technique from childhood and their dedication has kept this heritage alive. However, due to the decreasing demand for kimono and the aging issue of artisans, this tradition sadly faces a danger of extinction. JU-NNA’s collection aims to contribute to the preservation of this precious heritage.
Responsibilities will include: Supporting the design team with design research, pattern development, cutting fabrics, sewing toiles, finishing garments, running errands when necessary, assisting with amending graphics, website, and excel spreadsheet.
This position is for a work placement. Travel costs will be covered.
- Good knowledge/experience of pattern cutting, cutting fabric, garment construction and sewing
- Professional, proactive, and honest attitude
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Microsoft Excel, and computer literacy
Guidance will be provided.
