Legal Counsel – Financial Services

At a glance:

This is a blended working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between working from home and the London Head Office. However, there will also be an expectation to visit other locations as the need arises.

About the role:

This is a fast paced role in a busy in-house legal team. This role will act as a business partner to the JLFS team, providing strategic legal advice that contributes to implementing John Lewis' ambition to significantly grow the JLFS business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand UK financial services regulatory framework
• Ability to interact and advise senior stakeholders on current and new JLFS products.
• ability to deal with a broad range of commercial issues including an understanding of consumer law, data protection and competition law.
• Organisational skills, and a self starting mentality are paramount as the candidate needs to be able to work proactively and prioritise their workload

This role reports to the Senior Legal Counsel, Financial Services.

Essential Skills:

• Qualified to practice as a solicitor in the United Kingdom
• A track record of expertise of working in an FCA regulated environment
• Commercial awareness
• Contract review and negotiation
• Strong project management and time management
• Experience of working with law firms to procure legal advice
