Job description

What's the role about?

We are offering a permanent contract for a Digital Product Manager to join our Waitrose & Partners Digital Team. The role is within the Identity and Account team.

Product Managers are responsible for maximising the value of the Product, minimising risk and helping build agility into the process.

You will be the subject matter expert within your assigned Product team, representing the voice of the customer, end user and business stakeholders and developing deep empathy within a complex and rapidly changing environment.

You will be expected to own, prioritise and manage the Product, ensuring it represents customer, end user and business goals. Your decisions will be visible through the content and order of a clear and transparent Product Backlog and roadmap, designed to best achieve the goals and mission of your Product.

This will be a blended working role, across home and our offices in Bracknell, with travel into the office as required - typically around 1-2 days per week.

What about the team?

A large part of this role in the Identity and Account team includes supporting the enhancement of our QuickCheck instore shopping app, centralised pan-partnership customer data project and single sign-on across our digital web estates and app along with setting ourselves up for potential future propositions. You'll have the opportunity to shape and drive improvements to our online customer journeys for My Account.

We are specifically looking for candidates with previous experience or familiarity of OAuth and client credentials, plus previous experience with account management and authorisation, alongside customer-facing experiences.

What will you be doing?

  • Create an inspiring vision for the Product using industry, customer and business insights that supports the broader strategy and vision for Digital Product development
  • Build, own and manage a value-driven Product Backlog that is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and shows what the Development team will work on next, providing clarity on the value it will deliver and alignment to the overall objectives and key results (OKRs)
  • Write requirements and ensure that the Development team have an adequate quantity and quality of stories ready for each Sprint
  • Deliver effective and timely communication of your Product roadmap
  • Effectively manage, engage and work collaboratively with stakeholders, ensuring they are aligned behind the products goals and kept up to date with progress
What you'll have

  • Experience of working with others others within a Product team using an Agile development methodology (such as SCRUM or Kanban) or knowledge of how this works
  • Ability to understand the impact of technical changes, by asking "why" and applying everyday/business language to explain it
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, stakeholders and timelines
  • Understanding the commercial effectiveness of decisions married with a focus on customer centricity
  • Previous experience and familiarity with authentication and authorisation services, and login/registration and account management
