Position Overview: We are currently recruiting for a Design Manager to join our Footwear team on a temporary Maternity Cover basis, based at Barbour House, South Shields. Along with the Head of Footwear you will lead in shaping our footwear collections. You will be responsible for overseeing the design and development of Barbour footwear and delivering market-leading, innovative global designs which align to our brand DNA and seasonal creative direction and drive our footwear into the future. Commercially you will develop ranges with an end price in mind, have responsibility for achieving agreed margin and work directly with manufacturers to ensure the design, development and range requirements are met. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Lead on new designs, trends, innovations, and technical advancements from the industry in line with Brand DNA, strategic and seasonal creative direction. Working with the Designer deliver consumer focused designs aligned with brand DNA and range direction, and which achieve commercial targets. Assist in and oversee the creation of seasonal creative direction, trend overviews, colour, and mood boards. Ensure new designs align with target consumer needs and desire. Ensure comfort and wearability are always very high on the agenda so we produce a quality reliable product. Assist the Head in the accurate and timely communication between key cross-functional partners - Sales, Marketing, and supply chain. Assist in driving margin across footwear categories, and design and develop to a price. For your category ensure all necessary PLM info is correctly uploaded to a high standard and in a timely manner. Lead the specification and product development process for your category with the support the Technical Manager. Product integrity- Aims to instil quality in the product from onset of development through final production. Skills and Experience: Footwear Design degree or equivalent experience. People management experience Confident in presenting your designs formally and informally and solid experience in creating powerful and engaging content to illustrate and communicate ideas clearly. A practical knowledge and experience of production methods Solid proven commercial experience in costing, margin and negotiation. A flair for design with great creativity and imagination Ability to produce original ideas on upcoming trends Strong organizational, interpersonal, collaborative and negotiation skills. Able to work in a fluid, fast-paced, multi-channel environment. Position Overview: We currently have an opportunity for a Garment Technician to join our Menswear team, based at Barbour House, South Shields. You will be responsible for overseeing the successful development of new styles, from first proto to gold seal approval. Helping to ensure we continue to deliver premium products in line with the business critical path and budget. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work closely with the design team and manufacturing base to ensure the on-time development of men's collections. Review new specs and blocks and issue and track new season proto requests. Create and update size charts. Create/maintain seasonal trackers - track/chase/book in development samples (from 1st proto to gold seal). Plan and lead weekly fit sessions. Measure/review development samples ahead of fit sessions. Create and issue detailed, accurate and concise sample reports to suppliers, must be able to clearly communicate to suppliers and team members how to fix fit or make issues. Identify and help solve potential development and/or production problems - including but not limited to pattern and construction issues. Manage consistency across fits and continuously monitor and elevate quality. Ensure compliance with product safety and legislation, requesting and approving test reports where relevant. Support QA/QC - helping to identify/solve issues as and when needed. Support with answering customer service queries as and when needed. Learn and understand suppliers capabilities and help direct development/production where needed. Supplier visits as and when needed. General admin - liaise with other departments, sales, suppliers, factories helping to answer queries and resolve any issues raised. Skills and Experience: A degree within the fashion industry/ clothing technology field. Experience in similar role across product development, garment technology and quality control. Strong understanding of pattern cutting, fit and garment construction, with an awareness of commercial boundaries. Previous use of PLM systems, or similar. Experience of working with overseas suppliers. Effective problem solving and decision-making skills. Proactive, assertive, organised and capable of prioritising workload and able to deliver to given timelines. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Computer literate with good Microsoft Office skills. Pull and prep samples for ecomm, social media and campaign shoots and troubleshoot any issues. Upkeep of the studio stock room, ensuring all samples are organised correctly and accounted for. Assist styling team in Ecomm and Campaign pre outfitting sessions. Support production team in model casting and proposals. Booking all model transport to and from the studio. Pull and organise props for campaign shoots. Support photographers in styling and photographing still life assets. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the creation of graphics, branding and patterns as part of the Menswear team that align to seasonal briefs and range needs. Collaborate with the product Design team to ensure graphics are aligned to overall collection. Position Overview: We are currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader in Data and Analytics to join our growing IT team. Data is crucial to everything we do at Barbour, and this role will be fundamental in driving how we use data more effectively; now is the time to positively influence and shape this crucial domain. The role will form an integral part of the IT management team, taking primary responsibility for driving our strategic direction across all aspects of the data lifecycle including data sourcing, Master Data Management, data quality, data storage and reporting (Business Intelligence). The combination of strategic direction, technical expertise, adaptability, hands on leadership and disciplined delivery will be critical success factors. Alongside this, an ability to communicate to business management, strongly influence enterprise architectural decisions and lead a multi-skilled team will all be crucial abilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Lead and define the data and analytics strategy and governance for the organisation. Responsibility for the business intelligence teams. Responsibility to define, document, and maintain an enterprise data strategy to enable our business strategy through a scalable, integrated approach to data. Leads the approach, design, security, documentation, and implementation of end-to-end data lifecycle solutions, considering business requirements, constraints, and ongoing supportability. Ensures the data landscape will meet the business requirements and ensure the right access to the right people at the right time and a single source of truth. Deliver a scalable data environment whilst delivering business critical projects that enables the business and drives performance to business goals. Take Ownership and leadership of group data management, data security, and Business Intelligence (BI). Responsibility for timely and accurate delivery of the relevant data components of the Group IT portfolio. Provide coaching and leadership to members of the BI team. Drive collaboration with IT and Business leaders. Provide advice and guidance to IT team and associated stakeholders around data lifecycle landscape decisions. Represent Barbour in internal and external projects with customers and suppliers. Position Overview: We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Sewing Machinist to join the Barbour factory here in South Shields. The role will assist in the production of quality wax jackets using various sewing machines and different raw materials in order to meet productivity, quality, and delivery targets. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Meet productivity targets in relation to making garments to meet deadlines as identified on the production schedule. Responsible for the safe handling of machines you come into contact with, operating machinery in accordance with procedures and training provided. Report any defective equipment, you are working with to your Team Leader, and maintain the general housekeeping of your own workplace. Meet agreed quality standards aiming for 'right first time, right every time'. Follow the requirements of the Company Safety Policy, which is documented in the Induction Training Handbook, and is displayed on all Health and Safety Noticeboards Skills and Experience: Competent in the construction of garments. You will play a key role in supporting the management of the store and make sure sales budgets and brand objectives are achieved through excellent team and customer service standards. You will have previous supervisory experience and be driven to achieve sales targets, as well has having excellent communication skills and have a genuine passion for retail.
