We’re looking to further build our capability in this space with a Graduate Engineer who will sit as part of our Global Supply Chain team reporting into Senior Engineering Manager THE GIG Our Engineering team have been working to Capture, Evolve and Grow our manufacturing process and ways. To reinforce this, we are now looking for a Graduate Engineer to come in help not only expand our work, but potentially find new directions and opportunities As our Graduate Engineer you will be responsible for: · Support, maintain and improve current Global Production · Develop and deliver documentation around our current and future working practices · Implement Kaizen principles and drive efficiency and profit in Global manufacturing · Research, evaluate and develop to trial new processes and technologies · Grow capabilities of wider supplier base by sharing knowledge and techniques THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART A degree or other recognised qualification in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics or similarKnowledge of engineering principles; knowledge of manufacturing principles would also be a bonusKnowledge of process mapping & documentationA keen interest in footwear manufacturing and a connection to our brandExplore: place the consumer at the heart of strategy, decisions, and communications while analysing market trends and competition relevant to your role.Influence: communicate difficult messages clearly and assertively, balancing data and emotion to influence, and build a collective movement toward common goals by selling a compelling vision.Organise: balance long-term strategic change with short-term business needs by setting clear roles, expectations, and measures for the team.WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU? THE GIG Based at our Made In England factory in Wollaston, Northamptonshire – the birthplace of our iconic 1460 boot - the SATRA-accredited Dr. Martens UK laboratory is where we test all Research & Development materials and products. In this role, you’ll take ownership of our UK in-house laboratory - maintaining operational excellence across quality systems and equipment, implementing our agreed test methods to a high standard, presenting accurate test data. Working independently, you’ll keep the lab running smoothly and efficiently, delivering accurate and reliable data in line with agreed methods. THE GIG Working as part of the Made in England factory sample development team to assist and learn the coordination of new product development from concept to bulk production. You will support your direct team with day-to-day responsibilities whilst learning essential skills for new product development and optimised manufacturing. THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART You will work closely with our factory production team to ensure on-time delivery of sampling and learn how to drive positive support for production through new product development.Assisting with communication across key wider brand teams; Product Development Team, Factory Supervisors, MIE Planning Team, External Factories & Suppliers, Global Supply Chain, Global Sourcing Teams etc.Helping to create / update lists of all parts that go into our MIE products (the ‘bill of materials’). You’ll learn how to ensure accuracy through gaining technical knowledge – Successful growth will mean you can make material spec recommendations where necessary for optimised manufacturing.Assist in all pre-production specifics related to how all MIE products are made, from first prototype to bulk commercialisation. Assist your direct team with sample production and product development coordination, learning to follow deadlines in line with the seasonal critical path calendar and building knowledge of manufacturing quality standards. You’ll learn creative problem-solving to address challenges and scaling product from prototype to bulk production through optimized manufacturing methods, materials, and techniques.To help share information about product specifications, materials and standards with the wider MIE teams (Production, Planning/Purchasing, Quality etc.)You’ll assist working with our suppliers and learn how to search for new suppliers/materials.Your technical capability will go hand in hand with our DM Way success factors.
