This is an exciting opportunity for a paid studio assistant to join our team.  palmer//harding are a quickly growing exciting designer brand with a small and friendly team. We are looking to appoint someone to work alongside the studio team on development and finishings of RTW garments and help with general day to day tasks in the studio 

The role is specifically focused on womenswear shirting, but good working knowledge of all woven product categories is a must. Equally the role requires skill in both the creative and technical supporting aspects of design development.

Your main point of management will be our Collection Manager unless she is absent or you are working on Patterns then you will report to our Head Pattern Cutter

· work alongside the studio team on developments of RTW garments focusing on the cutting process and finishing process of the sample garments
· Costing garments as samples are cut, ensuring accurate measuring and documenting of fabrics and trims within each garment variation
· helping to train and manage interns on the cutting and finishing process
· Responsible for button holing all shirt samples for new collections
· Work closely with Design and Studio team to stay aware of any new developments or changes within the collections
· help with patterns and sewing toiles when required
· maintaining and encouraging a tidy and organised studio and informing management of any supplies that need to be restocked prior to running out (pattern paper, interfacing, masking tape general studio supplies)

· Proactively work towards business goals
· Constantly look for areas of work place and product that could be improved and strive to execute those improvements
· An action oriented attitude with a proactive approach to problem solving and decision making

We are looking for a candidate who:
  • has a mens or womenswear fashion design/pattern cutting/tailoring degree or equivelant
  • is a confident manual pattern cutter
  • has confident knowledge in fabric cutting and lay plans to insure deadlines are met and prices are accurate
  • has a highly critical eye for garment finishings
  • highly organised
  • is able to organise their time and a small teams time in an effective manner
  • ideally be able to speak Polish, however not a requirement
  • have a friendly disposition and a good sense of humor 
  • must be a resdient of the UK or EU or currently hold a long term work visa
