Connock and Lockie was established by cousins William Henry Connock and John Lockie in 1902 on 60 New Oxford Street. Over the years, we have relocated several times and settled at our current address, 33 Lamb’s Conduit Street, in 2004. Throughout our 110 years of trading, we have proudly catered to the bespoke tailoring needs of discerning ladies and gentlemen.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced designer to join our innovative in-house Design team in order to design and develop a range of men’s fashion wear, excelling in the design of suits. The ideal candidate will have proven experience of working for a high-end couture fashion house.

As a Designer you will be working to ensure we are first in identifying emerging trends, and translating these into fashion stories our customers will love and believe in. You will work closely with our team to ensure you capture the season’s must-have pieces to excite and delight the customer.
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of a Bachelors degree level qualification in fashion design from a reputable fashion school. Consideration will also be given to candidates who may not possess formal qualifications but can demonstrate proven experience of working for a high-end couture fashion house.
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 3 years experience in the fashion industry or relevant experience as a bespoke tailor with a reputable fashion brand.
Skills and Duties:
Knowledge of garment construction and ability to create the patterns for individuals from their measurements.
Design young, trend leading fashion designs for the menswear market excelling in the design of suits.
Create mood boards taking into account market trends, competitors and catwalk inspiration.
Formulate design concepts and sketches taking into account production requirements, availability of resources and formulates design concepts;
Submit design concepts to management for approval communicating design rationale and making any necessary alterations
Understanding attributes and technical requirements of different fabrics and trimmings, specifying materials, production method and finish for aesthetic or functional effect,
Understanding and applying the company’s standards to finished goods and ensuring the goods are produced in line with the designs produced
Oversee production of sample and/or finished products communicating with the company’s suppliers and factories.
