Company description

Fiona O'Neill is a sustainable ready-to-wear brand launching in September 2018. Created by Irish-born designer Fiona O'Neill, who studied Womenswear at Central Saint Martins, the brand will develop conceptual collections of luxury garments. Fiona has worked with luxury design brands including Chloe in London and Paris. She has also designed bespoke pieces for clients including Bjork (featured in The Gentlewoman Magazine). Her past work has received accolades in innovative design from L'oreal and H&M, and featured in international exhibitions (Utopian Bodies - Liljevalchs Gallery Stockholm).

September will see the launch of the first collection from her RTW brand. Each collection will explore a new concept which will be reflected in the materials and execution. Fiona has been developing sustainable textiles and prints for the new collection, which she plans to continue to explore.

Job description

Fiona O'Neill is looking for design interns, preferably with a background in print, textiles or womenswear. This will be an exciting and creative position, working closely with the creative director in south London. You will have the chance to develop skills in research, design development, CAD, pattern cutting, draping, sewing, sampling, screen printing and textile development. You will also have the chance to work on the production of a shoot or presentation each season.

Profile

This position would suit a candidate studying for a degree in fashion design, print design or textiles. Any experience in these areas would be very helpful. There are both full-time and part-time positions available, and the hours can be flexible.

The ideal candidate will have an experimental approach to design as we often develop textiles with mixed media. A passion for materials and interest in sustainabilty would be excellent. Basic skills in pattern cutting and sewing would be preferred.

The position is based in South London so the candidate should be able to travel there easily.

Specific needs

Any skills in design, pattern cutting, sewing or printing would be extremely helpful.
