About the Team
We are designing and sourcing products via our global network of offices and suppliers.
The team consists of Development and Production Merchandisers of baby, boys, girls and womens Jersey and an Assistant Merchandise Manager who directly reports into the Merchandise Manager.
There are currently 19 team members and they directly report to 3 Assistant Merchandise Managers.
Key Responsibilities of the team
To carry out duties in order to ensure the design packs and sample requisitions are attended to in a timely manner.To carry out and revise costings and negotiate prices with suppliers based on approved samples from the customer, and follow-up with the suppliers until approved by the customer.Visit factories and suppliers as scheduled and build good relationships and enhance mutual trust and honesty.To ensure all activities from quoting delivery dates, to proper handover is carried out in an effective manner, in order to meet business objectives and customer satisfaction through a high level of service.Liaise with the buyers, designers and suppliers.About the Role
Monitor the Development and Production Merchandising team and communicate with the Buyer for a smooth shipment.Educate and motivate team members.Set objectives and targets at the beginning of the year to improve reliability, service, caliber of staff and supplier performance.Review detailed cost sheets with Assistant Merchandise Managers and Product Managers to meet target prices of NEXT to secure business.Review business levels ( PN%), follow up to get loading figures from NEXT, compare against the previous season and work to grow business on areas where the ON % has reduced.Work to service the growth if PN % has increased Review new business and identify the risk of the product and supplier to make arrangements to increase focus and minimize risks.
Dealing with Customer
Take care of the customer and understand the needs of the customer and service to meet the needs.Make sure emails are responded to within 24hours and follow up with regular phone calls and build strong working relationships.Contact NEXT merchandise and buying teams to understand concerns, get regular feedback and improve the weaker areas highlighted and maintain strengths.Plan to visit and meet NEXT and visit the factories with the teams when they visit Bangladesh Respond to SWOT of NEXT and share corrective action plans against the weaknesses highlighted.Make sure the action plan is followed up and acted upon until the weaknesses are corrected
Understand the suppliers work to service the needs of the customer.Visit factories and carry out progress, resolve exceptions , share KPIs and support them to improve standards.Arrange supplier training and development.
- Proven experience in mentoring a cross-functional team in dealing with baby and boys, baby and girls, womens jersey wear items
- Previous experience in manufacturing sourcing in the Asia region
- Experience of working in a fast paced, matrix and multi-cultural environment
- Bachelor Degree in Textile Technology and/or a minimum of 10 years work experience in a similar capacity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the perception to understand the UK Buyer
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook)
