Job description

This is achieved by overseeing the software development lifecycle from the requirements stage through, development and testing stages to deployment. Managing the procurement, design, configuration, installation and operation of the dedicated store infrastructure.Resulting in customer focused, highly available, cost effective solutions for the Next Retail business.The role also includes responsibility for management of third party suppliers. Including contract negotiation, management and performance monitoring against contracted SLAs.
JOB DIMENSIONSDirect reportees:3 Grade 2sIndirect Reportees:41 staff covering development, testing, support and installations.InfrastructureEstate of 5,550 tills across the store estate of 576 stores in the UK, Southern Ireland, Czech Republic and Denmark including 18 standalone Lipsy Stores.JOB CONTENTApplication Development TestingManage the continued development of the store applications, taking requirements from the business, agreeing scope, priority and timescales with the Retail Sales and Director and her senior management team for delivery.Manage the portfolio of projects and resources, ensuring that any risks, issues or conflicts are communicated or escalated appropriately.Use and implement best practice SDLC techniques and methods, ensuring fast paced development and testing, efficient use of resources and delivery of solutions that satisfy the business requirements.Where appropriate work with other teams to satisfy cross business area / channel requirements.Maintain and enhance the security of the Next Retail applications by adhering to Nexts security policies and procedures.Support Services, Infrastructure InstallationsProvide support services to the stores ensuring system availability, performance and capacity are managed ensuring any disruption to the store operation is kept to a minimum.Provide an installation service to the stores supporting new store openings, closures, refits and moves. Ensuring the timely delivery, configuration and installation of all equipment.Manage the store IT equipment inventory ensuring all assets are managed and tracked through their lifecycle.Provide appropriate on site and on call support services for day to day operations and key events.Manage 3rd party suppliers ensuring SLAs are achieved and exceeded at cost effective and commercially competitive rates.General ManagementAdditionally the Account Manager has a duty to ensure that the general welfare and well being of all employees is maintained, and ensuring that the CompanyHealth Safety policies are followed accordingly.Ensure the operation of Nexts performance management process and that all staff have regular performance reviews and personal development plans are regularly updated.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Overseeing the implementation of applications, till and back office solutions Successfully implement and undertake projects and process change through the effective use of appropriate technology and existing resources. Develop resilient IT solutions at a fast pace Ensuring implementation of projects on time, in line with business proposals Economic and efficient provision of services to meet business requirements Manage and liaise with other areas of systems to maintain integrity of the end to end design of solutions Presenting proposals at Director/board level Third party contract negotiations Liaison with clients, external contractors and users Monitor and evaluate new technologies, research projects to determine theirpotential added value provide reliable technical assessments Provide operational support 24 x 365 to ensure escalation / resolution on operational issues with minimum impact to the business Seek to improve operational systems efficiency and therefore reduce operational costs to the business Ensure all business deliverables are achieved within budget targets and that both additional and fixed costs are minimised Adherence to all internal and external auditing requirements Continually promote and improve the profile of Systems to all users at all times Capacity and performance planning to allow for the future expansion of the business in all areas Provide skill-set to ensure effective development of IT environment to meet current and future operating requirements
